A Brief Encounter...

Last Tuesday I visited the Victorias Secret flagship store on New Bond Street, London. The gigantic boudoir is split into 4 floors- to say that your spoilt for choice is an understatement...

For a gal who loves a bit of lace, neon and jewels I was not disappointed!

The costumes from Victoria's Secret catwalk extravaganza are displayed all around the shop, along with lots of framed model portraits upon the walls.

The glitzy emporium also stocks all 15 VS fragrances,

 including the a limited-edition perfume called 'London'.

I spent ages in there deciding what to buy 

but in the end I went for these...

I fell in love with the candy and leopard combo and went for a classic (safe option) black bra too. The bras were £28 each but you could buy two for £44. The knickers were 5 for £20 and there is 

a HUGE selection to choose from. 

I can't stress how beautifully the bras fit. The knickers are so comfy and unlike lots of underwear shops they are pretty generous sizes too.

What can I say? I'm a monster...

It's 30.30 in Twickenham. Men and woman walk the streets in full bondage gear- I actually saw one on a lead! Fans strut past me in shoes with heals to rival Everest and there are coke can hair rollers as far as the eye can see. This can only mean one thing: Gaga is in town...

I'll admit, as a gal who usually dabbles in punk and metal, I had my reservations about going to a Gaga show. She has been my guilty pop pleasure for years, but somehow going along to her show felt rather like I was sealing the deal. Going public with my secret love affair.

 Regardless of what you think of her musically, this lady really knows how to deliver a show. The stage antics that unfold are beyond weird and wonderful. Gene Simmons: take note! 

The set is a medieval castle. She Arrives on a mechanical horse, emerges from between the legs of an inflatable pregnant woman, morphs into a motorbike, goes through a meat mincer and, (dressed like a hooker from outer space) a dancer performs a sexual act on her-

 she then murders him. 

My inner conflict goes out the window. This is as rock'n'roll as it gets. 

OK, so she goes for the shock factor but there is a genuine edge to her that other pop acts just don't have. This aside, Gaga is truly thankful to 'her little monsters' and she strikes the balance between having attitude and being appreciative in a way that's very endearing.

 It goes without saying that her costumes were ridiculous and genius in equal measure. I loved seeing her parade the stage in pieces that were indeed art forms themselves.

I was really impressed by her singing too. She was able to belt out songs whilst performing dance routines- barely standing still for the entire two hour show. Seeing her live showcases her vocal ability in a way that her recorded songs don't.

And so I put my paws up. I'm officially a little monster. 

Would I go again? Fuck yeah!

There's whiskey in the jar-o...

This week I have been working on some gorgeous necklaces made from 

vintage decanter tags. 

Here are some of the beauties I have been upcycling!

 

They bring back memories of my grandma's liquor cabinet. I always loved the faceted decanter bottles too- I use these to store bubble bath in.

There is something quite rock n roll about the necklaces. Bar brawl chic!

This is where all my jewellery making and order packing happens. Here is a peek into my work space and some of the things that make me very happy...

I found my vintage cameo miniatures in local charity shops but they have loads on ebay! I'm considering getting chaotic and covering the entire wall with them. My upcycled orange cherubs are from the fabulous ladies at Nashpop. I adore their collection of vintage to neon homeware and could easily house everything in their shop. I love my dog lamp but hope one day soon he will be accompanied by an Abigail Ahern.

This large oil on canvas 'Island Girl' is by my talented friend and artist May Everett. She has pride of place above my desk (Island girl not May!)

Love putting records on! It's a bit annoying having to flip them all the time but the romantic in me says it's worth it. I picked up the Davidoff cigar clock in Amsterdam.

Usual messy desk! I always wanted a regal looking chair and was so delighted when I got this one. Not great for the back, but it's a beauty! 

All my friends think she is creepy but I love my blue woman by Barry Leighton Jones. I got her in a flea market in Lewes. Apparently she used to hang in a pub nearby and spook all the locals. That made me like her more.  

Another dog lamp! I'm a sucker for anything animal themed.
